This site is a tribute to Bernie, who was born in London on November 27, 1947. He is much loved and will always be remembered.

Bernie was the light of our lives and we miss him deeply. During the final months of his life, St Francis hospice gave him and my mum a place to rest and be together whilst his pain was being properly managed. Without this care they both would have struggled to cope.

The hospice gave me and my brother a space to collect our thoughts and sit in silence as we said goodbye to our dad. It is only from personal experience that the true greatness of St Francis hospice is realised. Where the hospital failed him, the hospice cherished him.

We believe that angels walk this earth and they care for those on their final journey at the hospice. During my dad's last few days at St Francis, he woke up distressed wondering where he was, my mum told him he was in the hospice, he closed his eyes, relaxed and said 'Good, I am safe'.

In lieu of flowers at the funeral, we ask you to give what you can in memory of Bernie. This was his wish.
